Windows Server 2022 Standard
Windows Server 2022 introduces advanced multi-level security, hybrid features with Azure, and a flexible application platform. As part of this release, we are introducing protected core features to help protect hardware, firmware, and Windows Server operating system functions from advanced security threats. The Secured-core server is based on technologies such as Windows Defender System Guard and Virtualization-based Security to minimize the risk of firmware vulnerabilities and advanced malware. The new version also provides protected connectivity that introduces several new features such as faster and more secure encrypted HTTPS connections, industry-standard AES 256 SMB encryption, and more.
Windows Server 2022 improves the management of hybrid servers with significantly improved VM management, an advanced event viewer, and many other new features in Windows Admin Center. In addition, this release includes significant improvements to Windows containers, such as smaller image sizes for faster downloads, simplified network policy implementation, and containerization tools for .NET applications.
System requirements for Windows Server 2022
This topic outlines the minimum system requirements for Windows Server 2022. If your computer does not meet the minimum requirements, you will not be able to install the product correctly. Actual requirements may vary based on your system configuration, as well as the applications and features you choose to install.
Unless otherwise specified, these minimum system requirements apply to all installation options (Server Core and Server with desktop experience) and to the Standard and Datacenter editions.
Important
The extremely diverse range of potential distributions makes it unrealistic to declare recommended system requirements applicable to everyone. Consult the documentation for each server role you plan to deploy for further details on resource needs for specific server roles. For optimal results, perform trial deployments to establish appropriate system requirements for each specific deployment scenario.
Processor
Besides the processor's clock frequency, the processor's performance depends on the number of processor cores and the size of the processor's cache. Below are the processor requirements for this product:
Minimum:
1.4 GHz 64-bit processor
Compatible with the x64 instruction set
Support for NX and Execute Protection
Support for CMPXCHG16b, LAHF/SAHF, and PrefetchW
Support for SLAT (Second Level Address Translation) (EPT or NPT)
Coreinfo, developed by Windows Sysinternals, is a tool you can use to check which of these features your CPU has.
